Proof that Freckles doesn't always dislike Grace!
John wasn't as thrilled with the cold. I bundled him up but we only stayed outside a few minutes!
We finally got a good snow the third weekend in February. Hayden had a blast playing and he even got to sled the next day after it froze overnight. Grace also loved the snow. She jumped around and buried her nose and ate a lot of it! It stuck around for a few days before the temps warmed back up.
Hayden and Grace in the backyard. Hayden picked the frisbee out for her.
Grace and John- this looks like a picture that was taken of my sister Faith and our dog Goldie, when she was a baby. I love it!
Here's Grace!!

Weeks 29-32

Wow, I'm really behind. Sorry about that. We've been busy in the last month. First we have a new family member, Grace. She's a 4 month old Brittany puppy and cute as a button. And a handful. Heath's parents took care of her for a month or so and thankfully potty trained and crate trained her. Which was much appreciated!!!! Heath's Dad drove out to bring her mid-February. She's adjusting nicely and likes to be outside. She loves Freckles although he is not as thrilled with her. She wants to play so bad and won't take no for an answer. She bugs him until he gives in and plays a little or bites her. He was biting her at least once a day in the beginning but it's gotten better. She has a lot of energy so when the weather's nice she stays out most of the day. It's when we have snow or rain and she's inside for the day that she gets into trouble. She likes shoes and towels and drags them around the house. She also tries to steal John's soft toys or Hayden's stuffed animals. Hayden has learned to keep his stuff put up mostly and she hasn't destroyed anything yet! We've pulled plenty of things away from her before it was too late. Hayden liked her at first but she likes to jump and bit so he mostly ignores her now. They do run around the house every now and then. I'm sure as she gets older they will bond more.
We think she's the reincarnation of our late lab, Allie. Who was also a little crazy and hyper. Grace has the same wild look and an appetite for other dogs poo. Yes, she's nasty. And her little habit got both she and Freckles sick. So much fun!!!

As for John, he's doing good. He's teething, so he's been on and off fussy for weeks. His first tooth finally broke through the surface a few weeks ago and the second is on it's way out too. He had been sleeping pretty good but now every few days, he's off. Then the time changed and that really messed him up. It took about a week to get back to normal. He loves the dogs and laughs at them. Grace is constantly trying to lick him and he thinks that's funny. He was even "petting" Freckles one day. We were sitting beside Freckles and John was gently grabbing and feeling his fur. Freckles didn't mind and John thought it was great!
He is talking more and more. He says hey, mama, ga, ba and lots of babbling and then blah at the end. It's funny. He is also working on crawling. He learned how to go from his hands and knees to sitting and then back. He finally figured out how to go forward and crawl in his own way. He goes forward with a knee and then uses the foot of the other leg. He thankfully can't move too fast yet! And sometimes he just goes in a big circle from hands and knees to sitting over and over again. He likes the hard floor and tries to get to that and then he slaps it with his hand. Now he likes to try and get in the kitchen to the fridge. We have a Leap Frog farm set on the fridge that plays music and animal sounds and he likes that.
He's also a decent eater. We've moved to Stage 2 and he's doing good. He even likes the meat! So hopefully he won't follow in big brother's picky footsteps!

Hayden is good and progressing well in school. He's reading simple books, writing well and doing math. And he has Heath's math brain which is good. This past Friday, they had a local art show in town for all the schools. And Hayden had a piece featured. We were excited but I think it embarrassed him! I've included lots of pictues and hopefully I'll keep up better in the weeks ahead!

Hayden and John sitting on the floor

John on Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day, I made up a scavenger hut for Hayden to find his gift. This is one of his clues. He thought it was great!
Taking a bath in the big tub. This was a little hard to keep him up and wash him at the same time. I will probably wait just a little longer before doing this again. He enjoyed playing with the bath cups and sitting in the water.

Week 28/ Valentine's Day

We've had a fairly quiet week. Hayden was out of school on Tuesday b/c I had to take him to the doctor. He got tonsilitis again and will probably have to have his tonsils out. He's doing much better now. Then he had a 4 day weekend with the holiday. He had his Valentine's party at school on Thursday and that was fun. John and I went and John enjoying watching all the big kids.

John went for his 6 month checkup on Thursday morning but we didn't get shots yet. He weighs 17 lbs and is 27 in long. The Dr. said he is doing good. He has a little bit of a runny nose and cough right now. We'll go back sometime this week for his shots. UGH. But at least then he doesn't have to get more until 12 mos. He is working on crawling. He does the push up on hands and toes and then pushes backward. Then he gets mad b/c he's not going forward. He also occasionally gets his knees up under him. He can also move to the side to get a toy!
He's tried all the first foods and we'll move onto 2's soon. Plus he's now eating food in the morning as well as at supper time. He's sleeping better and now puts himself to sleep most of the time. He even sleeps thru the night about every other night. Or at least that's what I call it. He'll sleep from 10 or 11 until 4 or 5 so that's pretty good. 4 or 5 hours of sleep at a time is great! Plus he takes good naps most days! Here's a few pics from the week.

I'm flying!

Hayden after he lost his first tooth!

Sitting up like a big boy!

Week 26 and 27/ 6 months

Things have been busy in the last two weeks with the boys. Hayden finally lost his first tooth! He even let Heath get it out. He was very excited and got a visit from the tooth fairy. He has his first gap and I think the next tooth is loose now too! He is doing good in school, learning like crazy. They are doing writing and reading and math and it seems that he has Heath's math brain thank goodness!!

John is doing all kinds of new things. Last Monday, he decided he was going to sit up unsupported and has been doing it ever since. He still falls over occasionally but not much. The next day he did a true push up with just hands and toes on the ground. He now scoots backward and gets mad b/c he's going away from the toy. He plays with his toys now and even recognizes some of them. He figured out how to push down on the music box on his excersaucer and turn it on. Then he gets so excited when we clap and say yay! It's funny. He knows his name and will turn if you call him. He's a big thumb sucker which is okay b/c he's learn to self-soothe sometimes. The sleeping thing is going better. He has a schedule most days and only cries for 10 min or less or not at all most days. We are still working on sleeping through the night but it's much better than it was. And he's in his crib now all night. Which means we are sleeping better too. He still loves Hayden and laughs at him a lot. He's also tons of fun to change now. He doesn't like to be on his back so it's a little hard to get a diaper on. I think we may just change him on the floor now. He's tried more food and has liked everything but the bananas. Pureed bananas don't really smell that great so we just give him a piece of banana in a mesh feeder and he loves that! He also is trying a sippy cup. He does good holding onto the handles. And he likes the little bit of juice and water inside. I'm posting a few pics from the past two weeks!
